Cordillera Blanca

Summit of a peak in Cordillera BlancaThe Cordillera Blanca is the highest tropical mountain range in the world. It has an area of 180 Km approximately from North to South, splitting in west and east slopes in the Andes. Parallel to the Callejon de Huaylas, a huge valley split the Cordillera Negra of the Cordillera Blanca, this last one has 720 Km2 glaciar area, where exist 27 peaks that overcome 6000 masl , being Huascaran 6768m, the highest peak, Alpamayo 5947m, the most beautiful mountain. Practically whole the Cordillera Blanca is protect by The Huascaran National Park, a true Natural Paradise of snow covered peaks, with 663 glaciers, 269 lakes, as well as archeological sites. The flora and wild fauna make up an extra attractive, among the most important are the Puya Raimondi, huge wood of Quenuals and cactus that can be found only in Cordillera Blanca; among the animals we found: condors, vicuñas, pumas, tarucas , Andean deers and different species of birds.
This protected area also serves to the scientists to evaluate the changes to long term of different climate factors that affect to the nature and also help to purify the environmental pollution.
Among the advantages that offers us the mountain range are the climate (ideal for climbing between May and October) and the well marked routes in the mountains, that permit reach the summit of many peaks.

 

Cordillera Huayhuash

Cordillera HuayhuashçThe mother earth has created in the western side of the Cordillera de los Andes a singular mountain range called Huayhuash, this mountain range is the most spectacular of the Peruvian Andes and one of the most beautiful of world, place that mountaineers and ecologists love this mountain range for its impressive mountains, turquoise lakes, clear streams, unique species of birds, thick woods and uncountable quantity of flowers, are some characteristics of Cordillera Huayhuash. Also we find  some archeological sites of Yaruwilca culture, The cave of Lauricocha man and many hot springs in different points of Inca trail.
The Cordillera Huayhuash is located in the central part of the Peruvian Andes, 50 Km southern of Cordillera Blanca, 250 Km to the Nor east of Lima, it includes 30 Km with a orientation North – South, the circuit covers  165 Km and has many beautiful snow covered peaks, among the most important are: Yerupaja (6634m), Siula grande ( mountain where took place the most amazing adventure story “Touching the void”, written by Joe Sympsons)
The cultural and natural wealth are almost unaltered, these are the rewards for those who go to discover  the Cordillera Huayhuash.
